Hawthornden Retreat for Writers

In March 2011 Updates on October 16, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Thaïs Miller was awarded a 2013 Fellowship at Hawthornden Castle.

Located on the River North Esk in Midlothian, Scotland, the Hawthornden Retreat for Writers provides a peaceful setting for creative writers to work without disturbance for four weeks. The castle is owned by Drue Heinz (publisher of The Paris Review) and the retreat is administered by a trust. Jesse Ball, one of Thaïs’s favorite authors, used the retreat as inspiration for his novel, Samedi, the Deafness.
