Why There Are Words (WTAW) Press

Why There Are Words (WTAW) Press is a nonprofit publishing house. Their mission is to publish exceptional work by authors, books the big houses might want to publish but can’t take a chance on. WTAW wants to take that chance, to feature writers whose voices need to be heard.

What’s unique about the press is the accompanying reading series, Why There Are Words. Based in the San Francisco Bay area, the series is run by WTAW Press founder, Peg Alford Pursell. Over the past 6 years, the monthly program has become an important live venue for authors, and is now set to expand to five more cities across the country. That means a built-in network for WTAW Press authors, something not many publishers can offer.

This week, the press is launching a crowdfunding campaign to help fund their first year, but also to get the word out about WTAW and build a community of readers and writers.
